Clear roles, careful sourcing

Editorial Scope & Standards

How YouMatter separates resource navigation from furry-community editorial work and reviews outside services.

In brief: YouMatter by Mello Zone is an independent support-resource directory and wellness project. It is not a medical provider, counseling service, crisis line, referral agent, or substitute for qualified care.

The publishing boundary

“How does this affect furry or community life?” belongs on Mello Zone. “Where or how do I get support?” belongs on YouMatter.

  • Fandom culture, identity, belonging, and community analysis stay on Mello Zone.
  • Symptoms, treatment, crisis intervention, suicide support, therapist-finding, and clinical-resource navigation belong on YouMatter.
  • A Mello Zone article may include a contextual box that points readers to YouMatter for actual support.

A practical example

An article such as “Trauma and Furry Fandom: Escape, Identity and Belonging” stays on Mello Zone when its primary purpose is community experience and cultural analysis. Its support box can say: “Looking for actual mental-health or crisis support? Visit YouMatter.”

How resources are reviewed

Listings prioritize official provider pages and established government or nonprofit directories. We describe scope, location, availability, contact methods, limitations, and a review date without copying full outside articles or implying endorsement.

  • Link to the primary provider wherever possible.
  • Separate crisis, peer, referral, professional, and emergency roles.
  • Flag details that change frequently and direct readers to the official page.
  • Correct or remove a listing when its current status cannot be verified.
  • Never sell placement as an editorial recommendation.
Scope: This is general resource-navigation information, not diagnosis, treatment, medical advice, or a personal recommendation.
